Malaysian tech pioneer becomes a main driver of sector growth

Over the last 12 years, DF Automation & Robotics has bolstered its reputation as a regional pioneer in advanced technology by developing state-of-the-art autonomous robots and automation solutions for the semiconductor and manufacturing sectors through robust investments in research and development.

DF developed NavWiz, its flagship technology that simplifies the programming of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and allows clients to streamline their operations without requiring extensive technical expertise.

“We developed NavWiz as the ‘brain’ for our robots, allowing them to be easily programmed and adapted for various tasks. This approach significantly reduces deployment time and costs for our customers,” said CEO Dr. Yeong Che Fai.

DF’s robots are used in various sectors from electronics manufacturing to semiconductors. The company has built cleanroom-compliant robots for semiconductor plants, equipping them with advanced navigation and vibration control features to handle sensitive materials like wafers safely.

“Our robots are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the semiconductor industry, which demands high precision and minimal contamination,” Yeong said.

The company is also expanding its presence in international markets, recently opening branch offices in India and forming partnerships across Europe and Southeast Asia. Supported by a strong R&D team and Malaysian government initiatives, it wants to scale its operations and increase its share in the global market.

“Our goal is to become a key player in the international robotics scene, delivering innovative solutions that drive efficiency and growth,” Yeong said.
