Recognizing that many Cambodians choose to seek medical treatment abroad, the government has committed to making top-quality health care more accessible in the country.
As part of that promise, the Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of cooperation with its counterpart in Japan.
The agreement involves the transfer of technology and skills to Cambodia’s health care sector.
“Access to excellent medical care is our priority. We are here for Cambodian patients, personnel and health professionals. People don’t need to travel out of the country since Japanese and Cambodian medical experts are in their backyard,” said Hironori Matsushita, chairman of Sunrise Japan Hospital in Phnom Penh.
The establishment of Sunrise Japan Hospital represents a genuine commitment of the two nations to improve health care for the 16.7 million citizens of Cambodia. Furthermore, it benefits the hospital’s Japanese employees who are expanding their language and communication skills while helping to raise local standards of care to international levels.
Sunrise Japan Hospital currently has seven centers: emergency; stroke and neurosurgery; gastrointestinal medicine and surgery; pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology; general internal medicine; health screening; and cardiology.
Sunrise Healthcare Service Co. Ltd. is a member of JGC Holdings Corp. and operates with the cooperation of the Kitahara Group.
