Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has appointed Mone’t Basnight Earle, a 2005 graduate and fourth-generation attendee, as the new Director of Alumni Relations and Engagement within the Division of University Advancement. Earle’s deep-rooted connection to ECSU is evident through her extensive involvement in various university events and organizations. Since 2018, she has played a pivotal role in the ECSU Homecoming Committee, serving as the Homecoming Parade Chairperson since 2022. ECSU, with a total enrollment of 2,261 students as of Fall 2024, comprises 1,838 full-time and 423 part-time students. The student body is predominantly undergraduate, with 2,156 undergraduates (95.4%) and 105 graduate students (4.6%). Notably, 53.9% of students receive Pell Grants, 36.7% are first-generation college students, and 12.6% are military-affiliated. The gender distribution is fairly balanced, with 52.1% female and 47.9% male students.

Earle’s appointment is anticipated to enhance alumni engagement, fostering stronger connections between ECSU’s graduates and the university. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Interim Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, Kevin J. Wade, emphasized that Earle’s experience will bolster alumni and pre-alumni initiatives, strengthening the pipeline of engaged university alumni.

Earle’s vision includes expanding signature events, networking opportunities, and mentorship programs to reinforce the bond between alumni and current students, ensuring that every ECSU graduate maintains a lasting connection with their alma mater.
