Greater Lafayette, which includes Lafayette and West Lafayette, is one of Indiana’s key regional economies and has seen growth tied to manufacturing, logistics, life sciences, engineering, and technology-related industries. The region is also home to major education and research institutions, including Purdue University, alongside a network of employers and workforce partners supporting economic development efforts.

In her new role, Burton will lead efforts to attract new businesses while helping existing companies grow across the region. Her appointment comes as Greater Lafayette continues to pursue investment tied to advanced industry and talent development.

Before joining Greater Lafayette Commerce, Burton worked at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette, where she led workforce programs across nine counties. She also helped develop a semiconductor workforce program that served more than 200 students across six counties through partnerships with Purdue University and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Burton additionally helped secure more than $8.5 million in grant funding to strengthen career pathways for students in grades 7 through 12 across West Central Indiana.

She serves on several regional boards, including the Greater Lafayette Commerce Workforce 2030 Council, and is scheduled to begin the new role on March 23.
