The Arlington Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has unveiled the Arlington Business Certification (ABC) Program, a new initiative aimed at empowering local small businesses through industry-recognized certifications.
Designed to enhance competitiveness, the ABC Program offers Arlington-based small businesses reimbursement of certification fees up to $650. Eligible certifications include the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program, Veteran-Owned Small Business certifications, Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certifications, and Women-Owned Business (WBE) certifications.
“By participating in this program, businesses add a credential and enhance their qualifications to be better positioned to secure contracts as approved vendors or suppliers for entities such as the City of Arlington, other municipalities, counties, independent school districts, and private entities that recognize these certifications,” said Kay Brown-Patrick, assistant executive director of the Arlington EDC.

The program collaborates with certifying entities including the Small Business Administration, North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency, DFW Minority Supplier Development Council, and the Women’s Business Council Southwest.
To kick off the initiative, the Arlington EDC will host an event on June 12, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interested businesses can learn more and register by visiting the Business Resources section at ArlingtonTxEDC.com.
This program is part of Arlington’s broader efforts to support small businesses, complementing other initiatives such as 0% interest small business loans up to $100,000 launched in partnership with LiftFund.
