Greater Louisville Inc. unveils prosper 2030 plan to drive economic growth

Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) has launched Prosper 2030, a five-year strategic plan aimed at boosting economic growth, job creation, and population retention in the region. Announced on February 12, 2025, the initiative is designed to generate 6,000 new jobs, attract 41,000 working-age residents, and create an estimated $6.8 billion in economic impact. The plan was developed through extensive engagement with the business community, gathering insights on key priorities such as workforce expansion, tax reform, and downtown revitalization.

GLI President and CEO Sarah Davasher-Wisdom emphasized the plan’s long-term vision, describing it as a transformational initiative that will position Greater Louisville as a leader in innovation, opportunity, and prosperity. The strategy focuses on job creation, making the region more competitive for businesses, and ensuring Louisville remains an attractive place to live and work. Key policy goals include advocating for a more competitive tax code, streamlining the land development process, and expanding partnerships with Jefferson County Public Schools to better align workforce development with business needs.

A major component of Prosper 2030 is its focus on talent retention and attraction. GLI plans to launch a targeted social media campaign aimed at “boomerang” talent—former Louisville residents who have relocated elsewhere but may be enticed to return due to the city’s affordability and career opportunities. Additionally, the plan includes deeper coordination with higher education institutions and career services offices to ensure that local graduates see Louisville as a viable long-term destination. Efforts will also be made to redevelop the Live in Lou website, providing enhanced resources for job seekers considering relocation.

Public safety and downtown revitalization are also priorities in the plan. In response to business concerns, GLI intends to increase security measures in the downtown area by installing additional surveillance cameras. The plan also supports policies aimed at increasing housing supply across all price levels, helping to make homeownership and renting more accessible as the city works to grow its population.

Camilla Schroeder, president of Advance Ready Mix Concrete and chair of GLI’s Board of Directors, underscored the importance of private-sector support, stating that regions achieving significant economic success have robust business investment. She expressed optimism that Prosper 2030 will provide a strong foundation for Greater Louisville to compete on a national and international scale in the years ahead.GLI has already secured more than $2.4 million toward its $4 million fundraising goal to support the plan’s core initiatives. The unveiling of Prosper 2030 took place at GLI’s Annual Meeting, where 1,200 business leaders gathered to discuss the region’s future. The event also featured the presentation of several awards, including the inaugural Community Visionary Award recognizing the Norton Healthcare Goodwill Opportunity Campus and two Silver Fleur-De-Lis awards given to Teddy Abrams and AT&T Kentucky.
