Germany: Deutsche Bahn modernization
In Germany, Hitachi Rail has entered into a framework agreement with Deutsche Bahn (DB) as part of a €6.3 billion ($6.6 billion) initiative to upgrade the country’s railway infrastructure. This extensive project involves the deployment of digital interlocking technology, the European Train Control System (ETCS), and an integrated control and operating system. The project will implement the state-of-the-art SelTrac™ Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) system across the Muni network, which serves approximately 160 million passengers annually.
