The Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), led by President Takahashi Fumiaki, has reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing Japanese companies to invest in Cambodia. This pledge aims to bolster economic growth and create jobs across the Kingdom, underscoring Japan’s enduring partnership with Cambodia.
During a meeting on November 18, 2024, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction Say Samal, Takahashi emphasized the importance of deepening Japanese investment in Cambodia. He highlighted Cambodia’s rapid development, supported by international investments, including significant contributions from Japan. The discussion focused on expanding opportunities for Japanese businesses, particularly in the construction sector.
Deputy Prime Minister Samal welcomed the JCA delegation, noting the visit’s significance as Cambodia prepares for its annual Ministry of Land Management conference, to be chaired by Prime Minister Hun Manet. He outlined key investment opportunities, including the planned expansion of Sihanoukville Port, envisioned to become the second-largest port in Southeast Asia after Singapore.
Samal also highlighted the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone as a vital hub for job creation and economic development. He encouraged Japanese companies to explore partnerships in these strategic areas, alongside other emerging investment destinations, to support Cambodia’s ambition of maintaining an annual economic growth rate of 7%.
Japan’s continued involvement, particularly through initiatives like the JCA, reflects its dedication to Cambodia’s economic progress. With strategic collaborations in infrastructure and industrial development, Japan is playing a pivotal role in shaping Cambodia’s economic future.
As Cambodia enters its 7th term of governance under the Royal Government, efforts to streamline the economy and attract foreign investment remain a top priority. The partnership between the Japan-Cambodia Association and Cambodia underscores a shared vision of sustainable growth and prosperity for both nations.
