Assistant Professor Nikki May of Louisiana State University Eunice (LSUE) has been awarded the “Innovative Contributions to Online Learning” accolade by LSU Online and Continuing Education (OCE) during its Spring Innovation Series, themed “Courageous Leadership: Reshaping the Future for Higher Education.” This recognition underscores her significant role in enhancing online education within the LSU system.
The award highlights May’s dedication to the development and planning of LSUE’s Associate of Applied Science in Management degree, an online program tailored to equip students with essential skills for the modern workforce. Reflecting on the honor, May stated, “It’s humbling to receive recognition for the hard work our entire faculty and staff in management have put in to make our online degree a reality. We want to give our students the tools and resources they need to thrive, not only while with us but once they enter the workforce.”

LSUE has experienced notable growth, with a record enrollment of 3,623 students in the Fall 2023 semester, marking a 19.2% increase from the previous year. This surge includes a significant rise in online learners, with 1,131 students enrolled exclusively in online courses and an additional 1,130 participating in some online classes.
The Spring Innovation Series serves as a platform for the LSU community to explore emerging trends and best practices in online and continuing education. May, who joined LSUE in 2013, currently holds positions as an assistant professor of General Business and as the Department Chair of Business and Technology. Her commitment to innovative online education has significantly contributed to LSUE’s mission of providing accessible and effective learning opportunities for all students.
