Seckman brings more than three decades of experience in economic development across Eastern Iowa. He previously served as president of Priority One in Cedar Rapids, vice president of national marketing for the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, and senior economic development manager at Alliant Energy.

Since joining MEDCO, Seckman has emphasized collaboration with the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Uptown Marion, city officials, and local schools. MEDCO leaders describe this approach as part of a broader “Team Marion” effort to coordinate business growth and community planning.

Recent projects include progress on Uptown Marion’s Broad and Main building and redevelopment planning for the former public library site. MEDCO has also launched the $3.5 million Partnering to Move Marion Forward campaign, which is designed to support housing development, workforce initiatives, and long-term infrastructure needs.

Board Chair Eric Schmitt said Seckman has provided real perspective to MEDCO’s direction, while Chamber President Jill Ackerman noted his experience in regional economic development.

The organization’s focus under Seckman has shifted toward proactive planning, with an emphasis on long-term strategies that align public and private stakeholders.
