With an extensive network of partnerships with Japanese universities like the University of Fukui, the University of Tsukuba, Osaka University of Law and Economics, Hyogo University, and Kobe University, NUM offers Japanese students access to academic exchanges and cultural immersion within Cambodia’s dynamic economy.

NUM has collaborated with prominent Japanese corporations and organizations, including Sumitomo Corporation, AEON 1% Club Foundation, Sakura Human Training, the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship, the Japan Jurists League for Cambodia, and JICA for over 10 years. Dr. Hor Peng, Rector of NUM, highlighted the impact of these partnerships, noting that scholarships from organizations like Sumitomo Corporation and the AEON 1% Club Foundation have supported over 1,000 Cambodian students as of 2024.

“Japan’s development success and educational excellence are globally renowned, and our partnership with Japan is one of the key drivers of our university’s growth,” said Dr. Hor Peng, emphasizing NUM’s commitment to preparing graduates for multinational careers. “We offer an invaluable gateway to connect with globally renowned university networks.”

NUM operates two campuses: the historic Wat Phnom main campus, offering programs in business, management, finance, and accounting, and the new Veal Sbov satellite campus, which focuses on the digital economy, science, and technology. Both campuses provide vibrant, real and digital learning environments that warmly welcome students seeking personal and professional growth.

At NUM, Japanese students benefit from an education that combines rigorous academics with real-world exposure to Cambodia’s evolving business landscape. Through collaborations with Japanese companies operating locally, students can explore internship opportunities with leading firms in special economic zones and major retail centers, such as AEON Mall. These hands-on experiences provide insights into the workings of a developing economy, helping students understand the region’s unique business dynamics.

NUM’s international programs offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in English, with about half of the faculty being international, including Japanese professors. This diversity enriches the academic environment, fostering an inclusive and multicultural community. Japanese students also gain cultural insights through learning Khmer, engaging with local communities, and exploring career opportunities with Japanese firms based in Cambodia.

With its commitment to internationalization, forward-looking programs, and Cambodia’s favorable investment climate, NUM offers Japanese students a unique educational and career-oriented experience in Southeast Asia and beyond.

“Over the past decades, NUM has advanced in internationalization through partnerships with global networks (Erasmus+, GBSN, AUN, AUF, CORE Economic), our inclusion in international university rankings (WURI), and our international student exchange and dual degree programs. We serve as an invaluable gateway to connect with globally renowned university networks,” shared Dr. Hor Peng.

NUM continues to strengthen the connection between Cambodian and Japanese academia and industry, equipping Japanese students with essential skills in research, analysis, writing, presentation, and leadership to succeed in a competitive global landscape.
