Penn State’s online degree offerings have once again earned national and state-level recognition, with Penn State World Campus featured prominently in the 2026 Best Online Programs rankings released by U.S. News & World Report on Jan. 27.

The rankings evaluate nearly 1,800 undergraduate and graduate online programs offered by roughly 600 higher education institutions across the United States. Its portfolio spans degree and certificate programs in business, engineering, technology, health care, education, and the social sciences, with a focus on replicating the academic rigor of on-campus instruction in a flexible online format.
Among the strongest performers in the 2026 rankings are Penn State’s online master’s programs in engineering, which placed No. 4 nationwide out of 111 ranked institutions. The sustained recognition of Penn State World Campus highlights the university’s long-term investment in digital learning infrastructure and faculty engagement, as well as its strategy of aligning online education with workforce needs in fields such as engineering, education, health care, and technology.
