The Singapore International Chamber of Commerce is the city-state’s first and oldest independent business association. It was founded in 1837 by a group of British traders to advocate for the retention of Singapore’s free port status and ensure the survival of their businesses.
SICC won its case, which in turn, saved the businesses of its founders. Their action also paved the way for the longest period of sustained development and population growth in the island’s long history. It is no exaggeration to say if our founders had not won their case, Singapore would not have developed as it has.
SICC’s mission since 1837 has not changed: to help businesses and to promote Singapore.
Just like Singapore, SICC has always adpoted an international focus that will promote a vibrant economy necessary for our collective survival. Hence the word “international” in our name.

SICC’s members are an inclusive ecosystem that represents the diversity of the Singapore business community. Even more importantly, every member is equal and included. There are no silos at SICC. SICC stands for free and fair trade, integrated multiculturalism, multilateralism, an open economy and responsible business.
SICC’s credibility and its focus on delivering value for its members make it a key partner for businesses looking to thrive in Singapore and the region. Whether you are a multinational or a SME, SICC offers the connections and support you need to achieve your goals.
