The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced a $10.5 million investment to improve roadway and wastewater infrastructure in Montana. This funding aims to support business growth and disaster resilience in the region.

In a statement released January 2025, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Castillo emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “Improving infrastructure is key to fostering economic development and ensuring communities are equipped for future growth.”
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte highlighted the state’s economic progress, noting that such infrastructure enhancements are vital for sustaining momentum and supporting new business ventures.
The Great Falls Development Authority, instrumental in securing this funding, plans to leverage the investment to attract businesses and boost local employment.
This initiative aligns with the Biden administration’s broader economic agenda, focusing on resilient infrastructure and sustainable development. Historically, infrastructure projects like this have yielded significant returns; for instance, every $1 invested in water infrastructure can generate approximately $7 in private sector investment.
With this funding, Montana is poised to enhance its infrastructure, paving the way for business growth and improved disaster resilience.
