Yamaha Music School has launched its acclaimed early childhood music program, PRIMARY, internationally, marking a major milestone in the institution’s ongoing global expansion. Designed for children aged three to five, PRIMARY blends individual and group instruction to nurture foundational music skills while encouraging creativity and collaboration.
The course builds on Yamaha’s 70-year legacy of music education, which has reached more than 5.5 million children in Japan since the school’s founding in 1954. With PRIMARY, Yamaha aims to deliver its time-tested curriculum to a new generation of young learners around the world. The program integrates elements from the school’s Junior Music Course and Music Wonderland, offering a holistic introduction to musical expression through piano, Electone, singing, listening, reading, and composition.
The international rollout began in Saudi Arabia in early 2025, with Australia, Panama, and Hong Kong set to follow in 2026. Yamaha also plans to introduce a PRE JUNIOR course for six-year-olds seeking formal music instruction, further expanding its reach in early childhood education. Future program iterations are expected to offer greater flexibility to accommodate children who are ready to begin structured lessons even earlier.
“Our goal has always been to help children develop their innate musical abilities and to experience the joy of sharing music with others,” Yamaha said in a press release. “By expanding PRIMARY to more countries, we’re giving families around the world access to a proven program that fosters both individual talent and a sense of community through music.”

In tandem with the global expansion, Yamaha has begun offering digital educational materials, allowing more families to access lessons from home. This digital component supports a growing demand for hybrid and remote learning options in music education, helping Yamaha reach a broader and more diverse audience of young musicians.
The launch of PRIMARY in new international markets underscores Yamaha Music School’s mission to promote musical growth from an early age and to support lifelong engagement with music. With its expert instructors, comprehensive curriculum, and focus on emotional and technical development, Yamaha is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global music education.
