Seguin EDC acquires 133-acre site for future TSTC campus

The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has finalized the acquisition of a 133-acre site at the intersection of State Highway 46 and Cordova Road to support the development of a new Texas State Technical College (TSTC) campus.

The purchase advances TSTC’s expansion into Comal and Guadalupe counties, following the 2023 passage of House Bill 4997, which authorized the college to operate in the region. TSTC announced plans for a permanent Seguin campus in December 2024, citing strong workforce demand and rapid economic growth across Central Texas.

The new campus will provide training for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, welding, industrial systems, engineering, health care, and emerging technologies. By aligning programs with local industry needs, the project is expected to strengthen the regional workforce pipeline and expand career opportunities for students.

“By securing this prime piece of property, we are laying the foundation for a project that will transform the educational and workforce landscape of our community for generations,” said Josh Schneuker, executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation.

TSTC Chancellor Mike Reeser called the acquisition a key step in delivering on the college’s statewide mission. “This acquisition is the foundation for a permanent campus in Seguin, which will allow TSTC to deliver on its mission of strengthening Texas with a highly skilled workforce,” he said.

The land, owned for generations by the Urban family, was conveyed to support the long-term development of the campus. The family said they embraced the vision of creating new educational opportunities and ensuring their property would serve future generations.

With its central location, the site is positioned to serve Guadalupe and Comal counties as well as the I-35 and I-10 corridors, creating a regional training hub for thousands of students and employers. The initiative also strengthens Central Texas’s position as a competitive destination for workforce development and long-term investment.

SEDC will now work with TSTC leadership and regional partners on site planning and preparation for campus development.
