Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is expanding production at its Bushy Park facility in Goose Creek, South Carolina, adding domestic capacity for rubber processing promoters for the first time in the United States.
The expansion will bring online production of key products such as Aflux® 37, Aflux® 42, Aktiplast® PP, and the newly developed Aktiplast® 44. Previously manufactured in Germany and China, these additives were imported to serve U.S. customers. Local production is expected to improve supply reliability and reduce transportation costs for industries including automotive, pharmaceuticals, and industrial rubber products.
“By producing these additives in the U.S., we’re helping customers reduce costs, improve delivery times, and enhance flexibility,” said Roy Varghese, head of the LANXESS Rhein Chemie business unit for the Americas. “This investment reflects our commitment to building a resilient supply chain and supporting long-term growth in North America.”

Processing promoters are critical to rubber manufacturing, enhancing mixing, molding, and vulcanization while improving efficiency and product quality. The Bushy Park site already serves as the U.S. hub for LANXESS’s Rhein Chemie business, producing a range of rubber additives including accelerators and peptizers.
The new capacity is scheduled to come online in November 2025, positioning LANXESS to better meet rising U.S. demand for rubber additives and strengthen its role in domestic supply chains.
LANXESS reported EUR 6.4 billion in sales in 2024 and employs about 12,300 people across 32 countries. The company has been recognized for sustainability leadership in the Dow Jones Index and MSCI ESG ratings.
