The McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has appointed Aaron Werner as its new Senior Vice President, strengthening its leadership team with an executive who has helped shape the city's tourism and destination development strategy over the past four years. Werner will officially begin the role on September 21, transitioning from his current position as Executive Director of Visit McKinney, the city's convention and visitors bureau. According to MEDC, Werner brings extensive experience in destination development, placemaking, partnership building and organisational leadership, providing continuity as the organisation advances its next phase of economic growth. "He knows this community, builds strong teams, and has worked alongside us for years," said MEDC President and CEO Michael Kowski. "Adding a proven leader from within the McKinney family brings exceptional talent and continuity while preserving the collaborative, high-performing culture that makes this organization successful." During his tenure at Visit McKinney, Werner helped expand the city's profile as a sports tourism destination, attracting regional, national and international sporting events. He also led McKinney's successful designation as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community and oversaw the transformation of the McKinney Experience Center, enhancing the city's visitor experience.
