Frisco launches ‘Origin’ innovation hub to propel tech and venture capital growth

Frisco, Texas, has unveiled “Origin,” a 6,200-square-foot innovation hub located on the 10th floor of Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star. Developed in collaboration with the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (Frisco EDC) and operated by global innovation platform Plug and Play, Origin aims to accelerate startups in fintech, sportstech, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity sectors.

“This new facility is proof of what’s possible when a city drives with vision, determination, and collaborative partnerships,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. “This hub is a starting point for new technologies, businesses, and careers in Frisco.”

Origin is part of Frisco’s broader strategy to become a central U.S. hub for venture capital by 2040, supporting the city’s growing ecosystem of over 400 startups and 13 corporate innovation centers.

The facility offers private offices, meeting rooms, and co-working spaces, fostering collaboration among entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate partners. Plug and Play will host events such as hackathons, workshops, and networking sessions open to the broader community.

“Origin will be a place where local businesses can get their start at an accelerated rate,” said Gloria Salinas, Frisco EDC’s senior vice president and chief growth officer. “We want just one central location where we know we can show up and there’s networking, programming, and access to resources and education.”

The University of North Texas–Frisco will also contribute by sponsoring a dedicated sports innovation zone within the hub, adding an academic partnership to the mix.
