Texas leads the U.S. in job creation with 192,100 new positions

According to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and a report from the Texas Workforce Commission, the Lone Star state has once again solidified its position as the nation’s economic powerhouse, adding 192,100 “non-farm” jobs from March 2024 to March 2025—the highest of any state in the U.S.

This surge in employment has propelled Texas to record-breaking milestones:

  • A labor force reaching 15.78 million Texans
  • A total of 15.14 million working Texans, including self-employed individuals
  • A peak of 14.28 million total non-farm jobs, bolstered by a March 2025 gain of 26,500 new jobs

Governor Greg Abbott attributes this growth to Texas’s pro-business policies and investments in education and workforce development. “Texas leads the nation in job creation thanks to our booming economy and highly skilled workforce,” Abbott said. “Every month, Texas welcomes businesses from across the country and around the world to innovate and invest in our great state.”

To further support this momentum, the state has awarded over $1.3 million in job training grants to Collin County Community College District, focusing on high-demand fields such as healthcare, accounting, and manufacturing.

Legislative efforts are also underway to expand career and technical education programs, enabling students to transition directly from graduation into high-paying jobs without the need for a traditional four-year degree.

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) reported that the state’s civilian labor force achieved a new record high of 15,778,500 in March 2025, marking 57 of 59 months of growth. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 4.1%.

Bryan Daniel, TWC Chairman, emphasized the state’s commitment to connecting job seekers and employers: “Texas continues to lead the nation and break records for economic growth. With 26,500 positions added in March, TWC continues to connect job seekers and employers to keep Texas working.”

As Texas continues to outpace national averages in job growth, its strategic investments in workforce development and business-friendly policies position the state for sustained economic prosperity.
