Texas Strengthens Global Trade and Investment Ties in 2024

In a press release from the Office of the Texas Governor, Governor Greg Abbott highlighted the economic development missions he led in 2024, reinforcing the state’s status as a leader in business and innovation.

“Texas is the eighth-largest economy in the world, a powerhouse in energy and trade, and the premier destination for business thanks to our unmatched economic climate,” said Abbott.

Abbott’s missions to India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom highlighted Texas’ growing influence and secured significant economic outcomes.

Key Achievements from 2024 Missions

India:
In January, Abbott met with industry leaders and officials to strengthen trade ties and encourage Indian investment in Texas, building on the state’s robust relationship with India.

United Kingdom:
March brought expanded trade talks with the UK in key sectors and efforts to attract British business investments, reinforcing the economic partnership between Texas and the UK.

Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan:
In July, Abbott visited three Asian nations to enhance Texas’s role in the global economy:

Taiwan: Announced the opening of the Texas Taiwan Office and signed an agreement to boost trade and economic ties.

South Korea: Celebrated a $110 million high-performance metal manufacturing facility by SeAH Group in Temple, Texas, projected to create over 100 jobs.

Japan: Signed a Statement of Mutual Cooperation with Aichi Prefecture and met with Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi to deepen trade relationships.
