USC opens 160,000-square-foot football performance center

The University of Southern California (USC) has unveiled the Bloom Football Performance Center, a new 160,000-square-foot facility designed to elevate student-athlete development, strengthen recruitment and reinforce the university’s position as one of the nation’s premier college football programs.

Located on USC’s University Park Campus, the three-storey complex more than doubles the football program’s on-campus footprint, bringing training, recovery, nutrition, coaching and player development facilities together under one roof.

The center features state-of-the-art sports medicine and recovery spaces, strength and conditioning facilities, nutrition and fueling areas, immersive visual training technology, creative media studios and modern coaching offices. It also includes the program’s first dedicated team room large enough to accommodate the entire football roster and staff.

“What is so amazing about the Bloom Football Performance Center is that it’s going to enable every single one of our athletes, every single one of coaches and all of the staff supporting them to perform at their very highest potential,” said USC President Beong-Soo Kim during the facility’s opening ceremony.

Beyond player development, the new center celebrates USC’s football legacy. Its public lobby showcases the university’s NCAA-record eight Heisman Trophies, 11 national championship trophies, Pro Football Hall of Fame memorabilia and exhibits honouring generations of Trojan football greats.

Head football coach Lincoln Riley said the investment will have an immediate impact on the program’s future.

“This changes everything for our program,” Riley said. “Everything. This has already impacted the way that we’ve recruited over the last few years knowing that this was coming.”

Founded in 1880, USC is one of the United States’ leading private research universities, enrolling more than 49,000 students across undergraduate and graduate programs. Its athletic program has won more than 130 NCAA team championships, while USC football remains one of the most successful programs in college sports history, producing multiple national championships, Heisman Trophy winners and hundreds of NFL players.

Named after USC philanthropist Ronald H. Bloom, the new facility represents one of the university’s largest recent investments in collegiate athletics as it continues to compete at the highest level in the Big Ten Conference.
