As the creator economy continues to reshape marketing, media and entertainment, Arizona State University (ASU) has launched a Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation designed to prepare students for careers in digital storytelling, social media strategy and brand content.

The program combines creative production with audience analytics, giving students hands-on experience in video production, podcasting, graphic design, writing and social media while learning how to build online communities and measure content performance using data.

The timing reflects the rapid growth of the creator economy. According to Goldman Sachs, the global creator economy is expected to reach US$480 billion by 2027, while millions of businesses are increasing investment in digital content, influencer marketing and creator-led campaigns to reach consumers online.

Students learn how to create content across multiple platforms while exploring areas including brand storytelling, digital marketing, audience engagement, monetisation, copyright and media ethics. The curriculum also emphasises professional production skills and the business side of content creation, preparing graduates for both entrepreneurial and corporate careers.

A key feature of the program is its real-world learning opportunities. Students can participate in brand content projects, media internships, international content creation trips, and the Los Angeles Content Studio, where they work alongside industry professionals and gain experience producing content for real clients.

The degree is offered both on campus and online, with students able to study in Phoenix, Los Angeles or through ASU Online. International students may also be eligible for up to 24 months of STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) following graduation.

Graduates are prepared for careers in content strategy, digital marketing, podcasting, streaming production, social media management, brand partnerships and audience development across industries.

One of the largest public universities in the United States, Arizona State University enrolls more than 180,000 students across its campuses and online programs. The university has been recognised by U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s No. 1 most innovative university for 11 consecutive years and is home to the renowned Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where the Content Creation program is based.
