The Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (CVEDC) has appointed Richard Amore as its new executive director, bringing more than 20 years of experience in community planning, economic development and housing as the organisation prepares to advance regional business growth initiatives.Amore will officially assume the role on September 8, succeeding interim executive director Fred Kenney, who will support the leadership transition over the coming weeks.CVEDC is the regional economic development organisation serving Central Vermont, working with businesses, municipalities, workforce organisations and community partners to attract investment, support business expansion and strengthen the region's economy. The organisation has been driving economic development across Central Vermont for more than 50 years.Amore joins CVEDC with an extensive background spanning economic development, housing, infrastructure, land use planning, and real estate development. He previously held leadership roles with the Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development, where he managed placemaking and community partnerships, and with USDA Rural Development, helping support rural economic initiatives across the state. Most recently, he served as programs director at Local Motion, leading projects focused on active transportation, outdoor recreation, and community development. He also teaches urban and rural planning at the University of Vermont. "Richard's broad experience across economic development, housing, infrastructure and community planning makes him well positioned to lead CVEDC into its next chapter," the organisation said in announcing the appointment.
