Texas A&M ranked No. 6 globally, No. 1 university in Texas for visibility
Texas A&M University has been ranked the world’s sixth most visible university in the 2026–2027 Global University Visibility Rankings, while retaining its position as the most visible university in Texas.
Published by higher education research firm American Caldwell, the rankings also place Texas A&M fifth among all U.S. universities and second among U.S. public universities.
The latest results continue the university’s rapid rise in global visibility. Since 2024, Texas A&M has climbed 15 places worldwide—from No. 21 to No. 6—and has improved from 14th to fifth nationally. The university has also held the No. 2 spot among U.S. public universities for two consecutive years.
Unlike traditional university rankings that focus on research output or academic reputation, the Global University Visibility Rankings measure how frequently institutions are seen and engaged with by global audiences.
The rankings evaluate more than news coverage, online search activity, website traffic, social media audiences, video views, web references, and overall digital presence using publicly available third-party data.
American Caldwell said Texas A&M recorded significant increases in news mentions and video views over the past year, helping propel the university into the global top 10.
Founded in 1876, Texas A&M is one of the largest public universities in the United States, enrolling more than 79,000 students across undergraduate and graduate programs. The university offers over 400 degree programs through 16 colleges and schools and is widely recognised for its strengths in engineering, agriculture, business, veterinary medicine, cybersecurity, and national security research.
“Texas A&M University’s increased visibility reflects more than institutional promotion. It reflects growing national and global interest in the Aggie story,” said R. Ethan Braden, Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
University leaders said increased media coverage of faculty expertise, scientific research, and public service initiatives has helped expand Texas A&M’s national and international profile.
The university’s latest ranking places it alongside globally recognised institutions including Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Purdue University, and the University of Oxford.
As universities compete globally for students, research funding, industry partnerships, and top academic talent, institutional visibility has become an increasingly important factor in strengthening reputation, expanding international reach, and attracting future investment.
Texas A&M will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year as it continues to build its global profile as a leading public research university.
